This is an Adjunct Instructor hiring pool for Plumbing. Applications will be reviewed on an as needed basis.

 

Job Summary: 

Core responsibilities of this position include:

The Instructor, Plumbing Backflow Prevention Tester position is a part-time, non-benefited position responsible for the instruction, testing and certificate paperwork related to ASSE (American Society of Sanitary Engineers) backflow prevention certification. Instructor will work with office staff to select dates and times of training, ensure training equipment is up to date, maintain credentialing certificates and paperwork as designated by ASSE.

 

Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.

 

Compensation: $33.38 per hour. 

 

Priority Screening Date: Position is open until filled.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:  – this position is Non-Exempt, i.e., is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA.  This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative; other duties may be assigned).

 

Program Instruction – responsibilities related to the operational and instructional duties of the program include ensuring the quality and rigor of the program of study. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

Adaptability is strongly encouraged.

  • Utilize curriculum provided by ASSE (American Society of Sanitary Engineers).
  • Communicate regularly with student, college staff regarding successes, areas for improvement, and challenges
  • Follow institutional guidelines regarding attendance, student progress, grading, FERPA, OSHA, Hazardous Communication, state law, and applicable standards.
  • Participate in industry focus groups, as needed.
  • Administer standardized tests and functional assessments in accordance with ASSE.
  • Ensure safe operation of the program at all times; including ensuring safety protocols are followed in labs and classrooms
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
  • Use relevant technology to support instruction
  • Observe and evaluate student's performance and development in accordance with established program benchmarks
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, policies and school regulations
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by enforcing rules and procedures
  • Perform support functions including student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement
  • Report safety concerns, incidents, and/or emergencies to the required entities, per procedure
  • Comply with College procedures and practices related to instructional delivery, assessment, and reporting requirements to include records management
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

  • The essential functions of this position require the ability to work in an industrial setting including but not limited to working with industrial tools, in confined spaces, electrical equipment, complex machines, and chemicals; appropriate safety precautions, equipment, and procedures must be utilized at all times
  • Exposure to potential hazardous materials, chemicals, and flammable materials; appropriate personal protection equipment (PPE) must be utilized
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures and weather conditions for extended periods of time; appropriate safety equipment and procedures must be utilized at all times
  • Ability to follow OSHA and college safety practice regulations and procedures
  • To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to maintain appropriate composure and necessary confidentiality with regard to both past and current employee, student, and donor data; documents; issues; etc., and respect privacy needs of employees, students, donors
  • The ability to comply with highly inflexible deadlines is required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position; there will be multiple occurrences of sudden, urgent task completion required
  • While performing the essential functions of this position a variable work schedule may be required including long workdays, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations
  • While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to squat, bend, twist, kneel, sit, stand, climb, and extend arms over head
  • There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
  • An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to perform essential position functions. For lifts beyond 50 pounds a team lift technique is required
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be unexpected instances of somewhat loud sounds

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Highschool Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in plumbing or related field
  • A current ASSE recognized backflow assembly tester certificate.
  • Three years experience in blackflow prevention testing
  • The ability to become a certified ASSE instructor of Backflow prevention testing

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current ASSE Backflow Instructor Certificate

If you are selected for the position, your appointment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. LCCC reserves the right to end this employment agreement should the results of your background investigation not be successful.
