This is a part-time, non-benefited position available to LCCC students only. 

 

Job Summary: 

Core responsibilities of this position include:

The Student Staff position within the IT Pathway supports the faculty and department in the deployment, management, and inventory of educational platforms and resources. Student Staff members will also assist in content delivery on the Pathway social media pages, assist faculty with tasks in the department related to the technical equipment, and may assist in IT equipment upgrades.

 

Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.

 

Salary: $15.03/hour.

 

Starting Date: Fall/2024.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions: – this position non-exempt and is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA.  This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative, other duties may be assigned).

  • Enhances learning resources by assisting faculty members in deployment and management of technology
  • Assists IT Pathway Faculty with general resource and course support through the execution of general duties
  • Maintain a positive impression of the program through maintenance and presentation efforts within the general department common areas and resources
  • Promote the IT Pathway and associated programs and coursework through interaction with physical and virtual media, in-person engagement, and participation in hosted events

 

Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and ability with personal computing applications – specifically Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint), Adobe products (e.g., Reader, Professional)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality standards
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with area supervisor to resolve work and college course scheduling conflicts
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions in oral, written, or diagrammatical form (e.g., a flow chart of a process)
  • Excellent customer service skills; ability to communicate clearly with a variety of people, in one-to-one and small group settings – either face-to-face, by telephone, or by other electronic means
  • Ability to communicate in an informative manner and effectively listen
  • Ability to support time-based requests; able to function effectively in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment with deadlines and frequent interruptions
  • Ability to respond to basic inquiries from faculty, staff, or other students
  • Knowledge of basic office equipment including computer, copier, and telephone
  • Technical knowledge of IT related equipment and systems at a level equivalent to the CompTIA A+ or higher.
  • Technical knowledge of basic networking concepts
  • Technical knowledge of common social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Discord
  • Demonstrated technical ability in troubleshooting and problem resolution
  • Ability to install and configure computer and server Operating Systems

Physical/Mental Demands: 

  • While performing the essential functions of this position a variable work schedule may be required
  • There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations
  • While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities
  • There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
  • An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to perform essential position functions
  • For lift exceeding 50 pounds, an assisted lift technique will be required
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be instances of somewhat loud environments when working with assembly tools or in server environments.
  • An employee must be able to access confined workspaces such as under desks, between fixtures, and occasional ladder usage.
  • An employee must be able to transition between stationary tasks and activities to frequent movement activities quickly and as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum: 

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Current LCCC student enrolled in courses for the employed semester
  • Admission at LCCC and continued enrollment in a minimum of 6 credits a semester, (exceptions may be given for summer term with supervisor approval)

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated experience in an IT related field
  • Attainment of one or more industry certification credentials
  • Demonstrated ability to generate social media content and activity
  • Demonstrated ability to manage IT hardware at an advanced level with minimal supervision
