The LCCC position of Adjunct Instructor, Adult Basic Education – ESL is responsible for Adult Education (AE) Transitions classroom instruction and related activities. Most students in this program need to prepare to take the Wyoming High School Equivalency Certificate (HSEC) assessment which is based on the College and Career Readiness section of the Common Core Standards or prepare for the entrance exams to proceed to credit classes at LCCC. Subjects taught are Reading, Writing, Science, Math, and Social Studies at all levels from basic to college-ready. Students are also referred to these ‘transitional’ classes by the ACC Testing Center and Student Services to ensure that those at-risk students are ‘college ready’ to successfully begin LCCC classes or enter the workforce. In addition, this faculty member may be assigned to teach English as a Second Language classes as needed. The faculty member is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day or evening on any Laramie County Community College campus or outreach center as assigned

LCCC supports adjunct faculty by providing an environment conducive to excellent teaching and learning, classroom equipment and supplies, and resources to meet the challenges that arise in the course of teaching.
Prudent utilization of LCCC’s resources is a prime responsibility of LCCC’s administration. Therefore, the college reserves the right to change course assignments if needed. Full-time faculty member with less than a full load may be assigned to teach a course that was originally assigned to an adjunct instructor. All changes in teaching assignments will be made prior to the first class meeting. The position of Adjunct Instructor is part-time, non-benefitted, and employed on a course-by-course basis without any obligation or promise of continued future employment and are provided competitive compensation.
Adjunct faculty must notify the dean of the school in which they teach if they are employed in another position at LCCC.
Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.
