This is a part-time position with a variable work schedule and associated hours.

 

Job Summary:

Core responsibilities of this position include:

 

The Event Monitor, position for Laramie County Community College (LCCC) is a part-time, non-benefitted, position responsible providing customer service and facilities support to approved entities, individuals, and organizations utilizing LCCC facilities. These duties include but are not limited to general facility supervision, assistance with A/V equipment, providing access to approved areas, and customer service, for all patrons. This position represents the college in a professional and positive manner. Additionally, this position will supervise to maintain order and safety of the facility; assist with facility operations; communicate to patrons; report maintenance or repair needs; troubleshoot issues; and contribute to the general operations of the facility in accordance with LCCC policies and procedures.

 

Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.

 

Compensation: $11.29 per hour.

 

Start Date: Spring/2023.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions: – this position is Non-Exempt, i.e., is not eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA.  This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative; other duties may be assigned).

  • Provide excellent customer service in a professional and polite manner.
  • Communicate with Facilities and Events staff to prioritize scheduling and prepare facilities for use as indicated by the schedule.
  • Meet with customers, organizations, and individuals to provide access to facilities, help setup initial use of the facilities, to include Audio/Visual equipment, and respond to any questions.
  • Perform routine facility operations and organization duties; to include: the return of equipment to designated areas, unlock/lock facilities before and after usage, perform designated cleaning, and complete necessary area logs/forms.
  • Effectively communicate and enforce LCCC facility and safety rules; communicate with the responsible individual or individuals for group events to ensure adequate customer service and that rules are followed.
  • Follow area emergency procedures for the notification of first responders and emergency services.
  • Report any unsafe conditions, need for repair, or equipment maintenance needs to facility management.
  • Report/refer any customer service complaints to facility management.
  • Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to execute the essential and nonessential functions of this position in a positive, tactful, and professional manner.
  • Ability to assess emergency situations; react quickly and appropriately; and communicate in a professional and calm manner.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions in oral, written, or diagrammatical form (e.g., a flow chart of a process).
  • Ability to deal effectively and professionally with people; proven capabilities in establishing appropriate professional rapport, with courtesy and tact, to accurately determine other’s needs, collect necessary information, and follow-through when requested.
  • Ability to work the required part-time schedule and communicate effectively with timely notice if schedule conflicts do occur.

Physical/Mental Demands:

  • To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to maintain appropriate composure and necessary confidentiality with regard to both past and current employee, student, and donor information; documents; issues; etc., and respect privacy needs of employees, students, donors.
  • While performing the essential functions of this position a variable work schedule may be required including long workdays, evenings, and weekends as needed.
  • There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations.
  • While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities.
  • There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and exposure to a pool environment.
  • An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to perform essential position functions.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be unexpected instances of somewhat loud sounds.

Qualifications

Minimum: 

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Preferred:

  • One year of experience in the hospitality industry.
